my morning favorites

I thought I would make a post on my daily makeup routine. While my green tea is cooling down, I prepare my daily face to get the day started. I'm still in the process of getting into makeup and plan on getting proper tools to apply them (I currently use EcoTools and this $3.99 concealer brush from Target...not good, haha)

Benefit Erase Paste in No. 1 Fair

I've used multiple concealers and I've got to say, this is my favorite by far. I used to use the MAC concealer in the pots but it didn't fit well with my skin. I have combination skin and my skin just chooses to either be oily or dry on random days, it's actually kind of annoying. This hydrates my under-eye circles, so it won't flake, as well as conceal my spots. I apply this after my Kiehl's Tinted Moisturizer with a concealer brush.

E.L.F. Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder in Sunkissed

I remember freaking out that my local Target had E.L.F. products. It's incredibly affordable and I was hesitat about bronzer at this point. I have really pale skin and I was worried that any type of bronzer would make me look like an oompa-loompa. I decided to try this shade out since many Youtube gurus seem to enjoy it. I like how you can increase the color with each coat, and now I can never go without bronzer. I think I might move on to a better bronzer though, maybe Benefit's Hoola Bronzer? I apply this after the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends with a blush brush.

NARS Blush in Orgasm

This was lovely gift from my lovely friend, Julia. I was always hesitant about this blush because it seemed incredibly pink. As mentioned, my skin is incredibly pale, so I was worried that this would make me look too flushed. Surprisingly, it was perfect for my skin. I love how build-able the color is, like the E.L.F. bronzer, and gives me a nice flushed look (subtle, thought). I apply this after I apply E.L.F. Bronzer in Sunkissed with the same brush, sadly haha.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends Oil-Control Powder in clean 10

This is my lifesaver at times. I have some days where my skin is super oily and this powder helps me look matte without looking like I caked on powder. It's used for oil-control which helps out even more. I didn't want to go straight towards a powder because I thought it would make my face look cake-y. So, I chose this translucent powder. I apply this after Benefit's Erase Paste with the brush it comes with (I need to get another brush...)

Maybelline Line Stilleto in Blackest Black

I saw that DulceCandy tried this out and thought, why not? I was using the L'oreal Precision liquid liner but I noticed that it ran out way too quick. I guess it dried out? Anyways, I wanted a really black eyeliner and that is exactly what I got. The precision is great and so easy to get that cat-eye liner look. I apply this after I apply a thin coat of MAC's Rice Paper

MAC Eyeshadow in Ricepaper

I'm pretty sure everyone knows this eyeshadow. I wanted a nude but shimmery eyeshadow to put on my eyelids before I applied my eyeliner. I saw that BeautyCrush used this in all of her natural looks so I decided to pick it up. I love how subtle it is and it's perfect for school. I apply this before I apply my liner.

L'oreal Telescopic Mascara in Blackest Black

This was also something I picked up because of BeautyCrush, haha. She mentioned how she had sparse lashes and loved how this lengthened and gave a little volume, which is exactly what I look in my mascara. This definitely lengthens. When I was applying the first coat, I thought I had a magic wand that magically lengthened my short lashes. I only apply two coats and then use a lash brush to organize the lashes. If you apply more than two, I found that it clumps a little.

My makeup routine is pretty simple, as of now. I plan on getting more and maybe experiement with other brands and techniques. Definitely getting proper tools too, haha.

lately...

Hello all! I'm so incredibly sorry for not posting for over a month...oh man. I guess school has been a priority for me lately but now I'm a second semester senior! Awe, yeah. That means I'll be posting more regularly from now on.

Remember when I said my style is ever-changing  Well..I'm still stuck in the black & white zone. I've been attracted to burgundy and many pastel colors, but I don't really wear them. I love the colors, but it's odd how I have nothing that is that color. I wonder if the weather of Chicago is influencing my taste in colors...I
really hope my palette turns more colorful as the weather gets warmer.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I absolutely love neutrals: browns, blacks, greys, whites. But, I feel like it makes me look bland? Or, boyish? I've just been trying to adjust my style; a mix of "grunge", "bohemian", and "street". Haha, is that too much? I know that my style should be whatever I want it to be, but I've been having "fashion" block (a fashion version of writer's block, duh) and it's incredibly frustrating during the school week.

Not going to lie, the weekends are the most stress-free because I don't have to worry about my outfits. But you know how when you throw things together during the week it looks terrible, but, when you throw anything together on the weekends it looks amazing? Yeah, that's my life. These pictures kind of reflect my style right now. Simple yet something charming about them. Am I the only one who thinks Europe cities are breathtaking? Because they definitely are.

no girl can have too many shoes

Recently I found out that Nastygal was having a giveaway! Nastygal will pick one winner and that winner can chose a any shoe each month, from their website, and they'll get it...for free! I thought that was amazing. Think about it. A new shoe each month...from Nastygal. I thought I would share the shoes that I would choose if I were picked. (Don't worry, I only listed 8 not 12 haha)

1. Helga Platform Boot by Deandri (get yours here)
This boot was actually intimidating at first but, when I saw the fashion citizen (on youtube) rave about these shoes, it started to grow on me. It's definitely out there but I think it'll work with many different outfits. It's simple yet sophisticated, which is something I love. I think the colour of these boots just scream spring to me, don't you guys think?

2. Big Foxy Platform by Jeffrey Campbell (get yours here)
These are definitely a classic. I find these type of shoes an essential in any girl's closet. These could be worn to a casual or formal dinner as well as a night on the town. I think these could even be worn for job interviews! Jeffrey Campbell is known for incredibly outrageous yet comfortable shoes, and these are ones that shouldn't be missed.

3. Stunner Platform by Jeffrey Campbell (get yours here)
Another JC shoe! The first time I saw these was on sunbeamsjess (on youtube) Birthday haul and ever since then, these were on my list of shoes to get. They're so casual and I think you could wear them with pretty much anything! They remind me of mary janes, but a JC version haha.

4. Audrey Spike Wedge by Jeffrey Campbell (get yours here)
I actually didn't notice how 90% of the shoes I have my eye on are Jeffrey Campbells...oops! Once again, I came across these type of shoes on sunbeamsjess's JC collection. At first, I thought they were a little odd, because I never liked plastic on a shoe but I realized it looked fine on. I personally prefer wedges over pumps and these I could wear in a casual or formal occasion.

5. Nita Velvet Oxford by Miista (get yours here)
I'm not really a huge oxfords fan, but this colour is gorgeous. I saw these shoes on Solestruck's instagram and fell in love! I personally adore velvet and this oxblood red made this shoe amazing. The tiny starts on the shoe aren't tacky and the little gold cross is like a cherry on top for this shoe. When I saw that they were on sale I knew I had to get my hands on it. Sadly...my size is gone :(

6. Coltrane Cutout Boot by Jeffrey Campbell (get yours here)
Haha, another JC shoe. Actually, though, I think these Coltranes are kind of a replica of the Givenchy shoes? I saw Miley Cyrus wear something that were similar to the Coltranes and told myself that I needed a pair of those. My friend mentioned how they look kind of scary and chunky but I kind of like that about this shoe.

7. Tripoli Cutout Boot by Jeffrey Campbell (get yours here)
Oh my god, another JC shoe. I swear, this post should be called 'Must buy Jeffrey Campbell Shoes!' haha. These are like the Coltranes, but more delicate, in my opinion. They seem more feminine because they're less chunky. The bulky buckles are my favorite. They make your ankles seem more delicate because of its bulky-ness.
