january favorites 2014

Definitely a long time no see, guys! My last post was about how I'm going to keep up with frequent posts but I didn't keep that promise. In order to get back into the blogging game, I decided nothing was better than a favorites post! I love putting on makeup and I've been doing that everyday since I've been at college. I know a bunch of students who just wake up and go to class, but just spending the time to put makeup I find incredibly serene. These three products are just like gold to me right now. I absolutely love every aspect of each product.

Let me tell you, I am absolutely obsessed with this mascara! You have no idea. I heard this mascara from Claire of Claire Marshall on YoutTube and she was saying how she had sparse Asian lashes, something I also have. Every mascara I've used, they were subpar. There were ones that gave me the curl but lacked in volume or the other way around. This mascara, however, is a double whammy. It holds a curl from 8 a.m. classes to my 6 p.m. club meeting. And even after that, the curl is still there and it looks like I just freshly applied mascara. When I was in the car with my dad, my dad asked me if I was wearing false eyelashes. I was so surprised that my dad even noticed a difference in my lashes. I never wear false eyelashes. If you have sparse eyelashes, I truly recommend this mascara because it's like gold on your eyelashes.
Everyone knows this eyeshadow palette and there are thousands of reviews about this cult favorite. I'm a little late to the eyeshadow game because I just started to experiment with eyeshadow last fall. I usually just wore eyeliner and mascara on my eyes because I never knew how to work with eyeshadow for my monolid-like eyes. My eyes are like a hybrid of the monolid. When I try to follow the tutorials on monolid eyes, it never worked because my eyes didn't quite look like that. However, after trying things out, I've finally found an eye look that uses only the colors from this palette. Lately I've been using Naked as a base color, Sin as an inner corner highlight, Sidecar on my lower lash-line, Dark Horse as "eyeliner", and Hustle to add some dimension to my eyeliner. Basically, I've been using the heck out of this palette and now I understand why people are obsessed with eyeshadow palettes.
This product I got in a 500 point perk from Sephora before I started college. It wasn't until a month ago I've realized how to use this product. I'm not a beauty expert and I've just started to become really interested in different products. I see this product as a liquid version of Benefit's Watts Up. This is also a champagne pink (although Sephora describes it as a pearly golden pink, which is basically champagne I guess). I like to use this to highlight the bridge of my nose and the tops of my cheek bones to give dimension to my face. I just find this a great alternative to the Benefit's Watts Up.

This is an incredibly short list of favorites but these are the three products that I've been absolutely obsessed with. Excuse my poor lighting and background, I guess this is the best background I can get in my college dorm, haha. Also, I left my camera at home so my iPhone 5S is the camera I have to use for now. I hope you guys enjoyed my January favorites!
